I refer to the Red Pepper article ‘Donor Funds Threaten Anti-Sodomy Crusade’ published 10/06/2014 to correct a misinformation caused by grossly hilarious false accusations leveled by Emma Matovu against me and pastor Martin Sempa.

No sodomy victims are accusing anti sodomy pastors of exploiting them:

It is unfortunate that Matovu’s accusations can be used to conclude that victims are complaining against us. Foremost, he is not a victim of homosexuality. Because of greed for gain, he willingly got involved in homosexuality for money in Dubai where according to him; his sisters and step mother who took him there were also indulging in prostitution.

There is no way an adult who deliberately chose to indulge can claim to be a victim. A victim is someone who gets hurt emotionally, physically, socially, etc, when forced into something against his / her will and doesn’t in any way, whether in the short or long run gain from it.

Matovu’s story, published by Red Pepper of Feb 05 2013 shows that while in Dubai, he wondered how his colleague, a Kenyan would lead a lavish lifestyle on his little pay. When told the secret of earning more money when selling himself in homosexuality, he, with his mind in one piece, opted to indulge for money. The story quoted him: ‘I could earn money ranging from Shs 2m to Shs 6m per session depending on the type or areas of origin of my partner.’ No one raped or defiled him into it. Remember, before Dubai, he had sexual intercourse with a sugar mum.

With such a background, if a victim as he claims, then he proves a victim of own greed and foolishness, not homosexuality abuse or exploitation by anti – sodomy pastors as he claims.

I had no obligation to be accountable to Emma Matovu:

That aside, I wish he had cited names of victims whom I have exploited and people whom he is sure of to have given me money specifically for him and I pocketed it.

I also wish he cited where I and Sempa fronted him to get money and pocketed it. But even if I did, received and pocketed it, I would have made no mistake since he never came to me as a destitute seeking financial support, he came after seeing me on WBS TV teaching about the dangers of indulgence in homosexuality, sought my counsel which I offered free of charge and introduced him to my friends in the media, religious fraternity, educational and other circles which opened for him the way to earn the money, if true, he now earns and boasts of, over which I have no envy.

The Red Pepper of Feb 05 2013 quotes him saying, ‘I am not looking for sympathy but I feel obliged to reveal what occurred to me in order to deter those who have not engaged into it not to dare.’ Was he lying and had a hidden agenda? Why the about-turn?

To remind you a bit, in December 2012, Red Pepper broke the story of Chris Mubiru’s live sodomy orgies with male and female minors with action pictures extracted from videos he had recorded himself copies of which I had also received earlier during the period of my Community Service at Mulago Hospital when condemned for spearheading the fight against homosexuality.

On Sunday 6 Jan 2013, after featuring on WBS TV show, Dembelyo, highlighting the dangers of indulgence in homosexuality. Among the many calls thereafter thanking me for opening their eyes to the dark side of homosexuality was that from Emma Matovu confessed to be struggling with some of the dangers I had cited. He sought a counseling appointment which I okayed for Thur 10 Jan 2013.

He came, got counsel which enabled him to take the decision out of homosexuality and to feature on WBS TV Dembelyo with me on Sunday 13 Jan 2013 sharing his story. I also arranged for him a press-conference at the National Theatre to counter homosexual threats and took him to media like NBS TV not to enrich myself, but to ensure that people know the dark side of homosexuality.

I introduced him to Red Pepper which published his story on Feb 05 2013.

Besides supporting him to stand, I promoted him for his, not my own benefit. If he can now earn between U Shs 250,000 and Shs 300,000 per session, which I cannot force people to give me, I think I did a wonderful job for him which he cannot pay for and has failed to appreciate. People who know how difficult it is to transit from obscurity to prominence must know what I mean. Not many would have believed him without my word of his transition. No parent would trust him with a dear child.

Many actually called him a fool to have ruined himself while others doubted his credibility. An Englishman, Bob Churchill rubbished his story of penile damage in homosexuality as impossible.

All my time, generosity and promotion were given to him free of charge where some clerics would have charged him exorbitantly for mere manipulations. My aim was not to make money out of him, but to help him and in the deepest of my conscience, I am sure that I did the best I could.

And though he never told me that whenever I would get money I had obligation to pay him, I would do what many clerics cannot do: give him part of what I would get. Therefore, when he claims that I would declare to him only U Shs 50,000 and never give him a single coin, the many victims I have helped can prove him a liar. Besides, I don’t even think I owed him a duty to declare what is given me. He wasn’t part of ARCH founded in 1999 and the struggles against moral decadence which I have advanced since way back in 1993. I wasn’t in any way obliged to be accountable to him.

Even the Jesse Gita who gave him office asylum on Span House is my long-time personal friend with whom we used to work who accepted him because of my, not his credibility.

Matovu failed to understand that homosexuality is just part of the rot in society which I have ably, though without any financial muscle handled since 1993 and still do. So, he must not only be very foolish, but myopic to put himself in a position he is not in any way fit to be in.

His Red Pepper allegations are trash:

Matovu proves to be a lair to claim that I visited many schools with him. To the best of my memory, I visited only 6 churches, 4 secondary schools and 1 university with him. I taught and he shared his testimony of indulgence in homosexuality. In the process, he got access to my well set and polished teaching material, got a woman who helped put in his story and made a pamphlet to make money.

What he failed to understand is that no testimony helped him to quit, but my teaching on homosexuality. His testimony alone is useless without people understanding what the vice really is. It is a fact that my teaching has helped very many people, especially youths across religious, social and intellectual divides to quit homosexuality.

Pr Martin Sempa hosted him on Kingdom FM where he got access to many Born Again Churches and connections from which he raised money for his alleged treatment. Many people gave him what they cannot give to me or Sempa out of sympathy for his plight.

Beaten for teaming up with Pr Male to persecute Homos!

This is a white lie. If true I persecute Homos, then they should have targeted me first. Why have they never beaten me! Is Matovu their greatest challenger! Even though homosexuals were inhuman, I believe accusing them of beating him is making up a story to win public sympathy and generosity.

For all who don’t know him, Matovu is so greedy for gain and homosexuality spoilt him to such an extent that he doesn’t feel ashamed of his works. One of the virtues that homosexuality murders is the human conscience. Those involved don’t get ashamed of their deeds and so qualifies Emma Matovu whose deeds have hurt many people.

Connections fuel feud!

If Matovu got a contract from the Catholic Church to sensitize Catholic schools students, Minister Christine Ondoa took him to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to ascertain homosexuality, he has featured in many schools and Taiba International students were paying his rent, etc; that is news! So what! My tight work schedules can’t permit me to look out for what he is doing. I and my colleagues share a national burden too heavy for one to handle single-handedly and waste time on fools like him.

Why does he cry when he is in contact with the richest and most populous church, the Catholic Church, Minister Christine Ondoa, President Museveni and others whose capacity can in no doubt fund his medical treatment locally and abroad, pay accommodation and cater for his welfare? If they can’t, how can he expect poor Male without donors or weekly collections to cater for his welfare?

I am not competing for pompous connections with him. I have my journey charted out and connect with people who understand my vision and can support me to realize it. Had I been craving for connections, I would have featured at Kololo on 31 March 2014 to connect with the religious and political hearts that seemed for at least that single day, very serious about fighting homosexuality.

The truth:

I met Matovu on Jan 10 2013 and by end of April 2013, barely 3 months down the road; my dealings with him were ended because of the following:

Conning people who are desperate to travel abroad:

On 21 March 2013 after my return from Mbarara where I had gone to handle the challenges and dangers of indulgence in homosexuality, youthful Kayiwa Julius Kulabako came to my office with a complaint that Matovu had taken his laptop, money, passport and other items under guise that he would take him to Dubai. From his story, his mother, a staunch Born Again had heard him on Kingdom FM then contacted him to help her son. He then travelled to Kayunga and started getting money from the young man and by the time he realized he was being conned, his laptop, cash and others valuables worth about U Shs 3m had gone.

When I questioned Matovu over his action, he said it was none of my business because he had a company taking people abroad and a commuter taxi bringing in money for him. When I asked him where in Dubai he was taking people when he himself just got involved in homosexuality there, he got so furious, shouted at me and wanted to physically fight me. I then banished him from my office because I don’t deal with crude, remorseless fraudsters.

Kayiwa later opened up CPS case SD 52/30/4/2013 against Matovu. When arrested, Matovu bribed and was released on Police bond. He later bragged that police cannot manage him.

I later learned that other people had lodged similar complaints against Matovu which compelled him into hiding away from Span House.

Kayiwa is now in Turkey but has never recovered any of the value of what Matovu defrauded him of.

The Stecia Mayanja lies:

When I featured with him on NBS TV Real Life show, Emma Matovu stated how musician Stecia Mayanja was trafficking young people into sex slavery to the Middle and Far Eastern Countries. He even claimed that he had been involved in repatriating one. A few days after the show, he told me how Stecia had given him a monetary offer if only he could retract and clean up her name to save her business. He added that even homosexuals wanted to give him huge sums of money to retract.

Despite my urge for him to be firm if sure of his facts, on 22 May 2013, he featured in various news stories retracting his accusations and claiming to have been told to claim so. Bukedde TV Agataliiko Nfuufu ran a story still available on You-Tube headlined, ‘Stecia Mayanja atutte omufere ku poliisi n'amukunya: lwaki onyonoona nti ntunda abaana?’ (meaning: Stecia Mayanja has taken a fraudster to Police and quizzed him: why do you tarnish me that I sell children) and showed him shamelessly putting out his penis before police officers and claiming that he was just told to say so. He later said that a deal had been brokered between the two by the Police so that he is given money to retract before media cameras at the Central Police station and he accepted it! Surprisingly, Police is still investigating Stecia Mayanja’s involvement in human trafficking for sex slavery.

Being a man of principles, there is no way I could continue with such an inconsistent character whose ability to stand his ground is not there and can be easily compromised or lie for convenience.

Petty thieving:

Not long after, Matovu was invited by a friend of mine, Anne whom I had earlier introduced him to who introduced him to her family hoping to raise support for him where he unashamedly stole the money purse of her sister but was intercepted and the friendship immediately terminated.

                                                                                                               

Earlier, a colleague of mine had lost U Shs 400,000 from our office in Span House and told me he suspected him to have stolen it. For the sake of the cause against homosexuality, he decided to leave it at that but we agreed never to leave him alone in the office.

He refused a free offer of medical treatment from my close friend:

After returning from Mbarara in March 2013, a medical doctor and friend of mine offered to provide free medical treatment to Matovu to reduce his financial despair. To my surprise, when I told him of the good news, he became so furious, questioned why I wanted him to accept a free medical offer, refused to be examined by any medical doctor who is not of his choice and refused to bring any medical evidence of his condition despite the money I had given him earlier to be examined. These made me sense that he could be hiding something.

Why would someone in such a situation, claiming to require over Shs 1.5m a month which he cannot earn, for treatment, not bring any medical examination evidence and refuse a free medical treatment offer! I suspected he could be exaggerating the cost of his treatment and using it to raise money for a lavish lifestyle.

In fact, I may not be far from the truth for in the story of 10/June/2014, he accused Chris Mubiru of ordering a gang of men to beat him up with one Saad Katongole (Chris had ordered to kiss him at Buganda Road Court) at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort where they had gone for a party. I wonder how a person who claims to have condemned bowels and a permanently damaged penis and in dire need of funds for treatment can go all the way for such expensive parties also attended by sodomy King Chris Mubiru and his bodyguards!

It is important for whoever deals with him to be cautious:

Since he has a record of quitting homosexuality when hurt and reverting to indulgence when healed coupled with greed for gain, I don’t think I am wrong to think that Matovu could have reverted to homosexuality and talks against it just to make money from those against it and is used by homosexuals to discredit us and the cause so that we stop helping victims and those struggling to quit so that none quits and more indulge! That is why he emphasizes the much money he used to get out of each sex session with his sodomy partners.

During the times he would come to my office, Matovu failed to bring even a single person he knew to be involved in homosexuality for help just as I had helped him! Nor did he take any to Pr. Sempa. Yet he was poisoning those we had helped to quit homosexuality to leave us evidenced by the way he dissuaded Mark from sharing his story and deceived him that he would connect him to a foreign funded group with a homosexual ‘warehouse’ at Serena Hotel where he would be given huge sums of money.

He not only proved selfish, but anti-cause and undermining our efforts since he never wanted any other person to share his / her story of indulgence and deliverance from homosexuality at any forum.

He wanted to be king and all Ugandans to direct their sympathy and generosity toward him, which contravenes our desire that many come out and share and their stories since each has its uniqueness.

Finally: the greed Matovu has cannot enable him to consider others in need yet when you visit my office, proof of my support to victims must overwhelm you.

My advice to him is that instead of trying to mudsling us to murder a cause for personal gain, he better totally quit homosexuality and work on his personal transformation. It is risky for school and church leaders to trust such a character and let him access young people, giving them his contact and promises of psycho, social, moral, medical and other support which he cannot offer. If he wants public sympathy, let him continue undressing otherwise, as leaders of the crusade against homosexuality and sexual abuses in Uganda, we cannot not be held responsible for his actions.

As for the cause: we must continue on track. I have paid heavily for the sake of this cause. I don’t know how many times I have been in Police stations, courts, hospitals, etc for the sake of the victims. On 3^rd Oct 2012, I and my colleagues were convicted not because we did wrong, but because we dared to help young men pursue justice, who came accusing Pr. Robert Kayanja of sexually abusing them, then under very heart breaking circumstances, retracted though later, most returned with apologies for betraying us.

It is a price that we cannot let be in vain.
